SAB’s legacy is embodied in every young dreamer’s journey onto the stage and beyond.

Explore Our Impact

More than 17,000 students have trained at the barres in SAB’s studios over the past 85 years.

They have come from all over New York City, nearly every state, and over 20 countries.

They have learned from legends—George Balanchine, Alexandra Danilova, Muriel Stuart, Stanley Williams; from longtime faculty—Kay Mazzo, Suzy Pilarre, Suki Schorer; and from stars now found on the stage—Megan Fairchild, Gonzalo Garcia, and Sterling Hyltin.

And they have all shared one dream, to become a ballet dancer. SAB makes that dream come true.

Through expansive outreach to audition more than 3,000 dancers each year, unrivaled ballet training by renowned faculty, more than $2 million dedicated to scholarship aid, and nurturing services that support students beyond the studio, SAB’s impact is profound. For the little boy in his first audition. For the young woman trying on her first pointe shoes. For the teenagers getting their dream offer from a dance company. For the dance field. For you.

Lauren Lovette and Adam Chavis in Serenade, Workshop 2009

“I wanted to be a ballerina since I can remember. And I wouldn’t be a ballerina if it weren’t for SAB. I really hope that every young kid, no matter where they are from, can have that same opportunity.”

Lauren Lovette, New York City Ballet Principal Dancer

Chris Grant in Boys Ballet Class

“SAB is where my dreams of becoming a professional dancer took hold. I now sometimes find myself back at SAB for rehearsals, and as I walk the halls, I can see so many more young boys like me, pursuing their dreams just as I did.”
