The Nutcracker Family Benefit Goes Virtual
The holiday season at SAB is a magical time, filled with music and the festive spirit brought on by George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®. A highlight of every year is the Nutcracker Family Benefit, and while we can’t be together in person this year, we’re excited to co-host the Virtual Nutcracker Family Benefit with New York City Ballet, giving ballet fans across the globe a chance to peek behind-the-scenes of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®.
Featuring Tiler Peck as the Sugar Plum Fairy, this one-time-only virtual program, conceived and directed by NYCB Soloist Sean Suozzi, takes you backstage at the David H. Koch Theater to learn about this classic holiday ballet. The Benefit will also include a special sneak peek of On Pointe, a new docuseries from Imagine Documentaries and DCTV coming to Disney+ about the School of American Ballet and the student performers in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®. Support at the Land of Sweets Level or higher also provides a special delivery of treats from the Land of Sweets and the opportunity to virtually meet a NYCB dancer who has performed in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®.
However you celebrate the holidays, we hope you’ll join us for the Virtual Nutcracker Family Benefit on December 12. The Benefit raises funds for New York City Ballet and its Education Programs, providing educational programs for over 20,000 children, as well as SAB’s Scholarship Fund that distributes $1.4 million in ballet training scholarships. Both programs ensure that a wider audience has access to the art form we all love. The holidays may look different this year, but a few things remain the same: the enduring magic of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®, our love for ballet, and the lasting impact that comes from the generosity of our supporters.
