7 Reasons to Spend Your Summer at SAB

As we head into summer intensive audition season, we know deciding where to spend your summer can be equally exciting and overwhelming. So, to help you out we’ve curated a list of 7 reasons to consider spending your summer with us at our SAB Summer Course.

1. Learn from world-renowned faculty

Coming to SAB’s Summer Course means taking classes with a top-notch group of instructors made up of current and former New York City Ballet dancers. Some of whom even worked directly with the School’s founder, George Balanchine! With each class, you’ll improve in your technique, musicality, and precision while learning more about the details of the Balanchine aesthetic.

2. Make lifelong friends

Throughout the five-week session, you’ll form lifelong friendships with other dancers from across the country and the globe. The Summer Course is made up of a tight-knit group of students who share lasting memories in and out of the studio. Our Student Life staff also organizes a fun-filled slate of nightly bonding activities like movie nights, cookie decorating, and a talent show!

3. Live at Lincoln Center

Attending SAB’s Summer Course means you’ll be staying in the heart of culture and performing arts in New York City – Lincoln Center! The School of American Ballet is located in the Samuel B. and David Rose Building at the northwest corner of the Lincoln Center campus. SAB is proud to offer most Summer Course students the opportunity to reside in our on-site residence hall, just a few floors above SAB’s studios! You can grab a meal with friends in our full-service dining hall, head to your daily classes, and relax in your suite, all without leaving the building. Or step outside and explore a world of activity right on campus during Lincoln Center’s Summer for City festival.

4. Explore NYC Beyond the Studio

Not only will you be next-door neighbors with cultural institutions like the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic, and the New York City Ballet, but you’ll also live steps away from all the exciting experiences NYC has to offer! Summer evenings and weekends are filled with chaperoned trips to popular Broadway shows, New York City landmarks, ballet company performances, incredible museums, a double-decker bus tour of Manhattan, and more!
