SAB One-Day Experience
For the first time ever, the School of American Ballet is opening its doors to dancers ages 12-18 for one-day immersive workshops with no audition necessary. On four Sundays this school year beginning November 9, intermediate and advanced ballet students are invited to join us for this unique opportunity to take class with SAB’s renowned faculty and guest teachers from New York City Ballet including soloist Sara Adams and principal dancer Isabella LaFreniere at our state-of-the-art studios at Lincoln Center.
Participants can sign up for one or more sessions in which they will experience a day of classes that samples the varied curriculum of our year-round training program. Each workshop includes a morning technique class, an afternoon variations class, a contemporary class, plus Pilates or strength and conditioning in SAB’s brand new Artistic Health and Wellness Student Center.
Detailed information about the day, including the curriculum and tuition, is available below. Registration is now open! Students can register for single or multiple sessions. Learn more and sign up today! Questions can be directed to sabopen@sab.org.

Curriculum
The SAB One-Day Experience offers a sampling of classes from SAB’s year-round training program. Participants will get a taste of a typical day at SAB through engaging classes at our state-of-the-art facility.
Ballet Technique
The day will begin with a ballet technique class with barre and center work that emphasizes the hallmarks of the Balanchine aesthetic: precision, musicality, control and speed.
Variations
Participants of the SAB One-Day Experience will have the opportunity to learn excerpts from notable ballets. In separate classes for male and female-identifying students, program attendees will learn choreography from ballets like George Balanchine’s the Nutcracker® and The Sleeping Beauty.
Pilates, Strength & Conditioning
Pilates and strength and conditioning have long been a part of SAB’s wellness programming. Students in SAB’s One-Day Experience will be among the first to step foot in the School’s brand-new Artistic Health and Wellness Student Center for either a Pilates mat class with a certified instructor or an introductory strength and conditioning class taught by a trained wellness coach. Both of these classes will be geared specifically to the needs of dancers. Specific class offerings will rotate session to session.
Contemporary
Contemporary was added to SAB’s year-round curriculum in 2023 allowing students to explore a broader range of movement and develop their artistry beyond classical ballet. Students in SAB’s One-Day Experience will take a contemporary class that directly mirrors the classes offered during SAB’s pre-professional training programs.
Faculty
Members of SAB’s distinguished faculty and guest teachers from New York City Ballet including soloist Sara Adams and principal dancer Isabella LaFreniere, will comprise the faculty of the SAB One-Day Experience. View our complete SAB faculty listing.
