Curriculum
The SAB One-Day and One-Week Experiences offer a sampling of classes from SAB’s year-round training program.
Ballet Technique
The day will begin with a ballet technique class with barre and center work that emphasizes the hallmarks of the Balanchine aesthetic: precision, musicality, control and speed.
Variations
The studio becomes a stage in Variations class as students learn excerpts from classical and contemporary ballets, in separate classes for men and women. They are taught by faculty members who draw upon their extensive performance experience to present students with the keys for transforming technique into art.
Pilates, Strength & Conditioning
Pilates and strength and conditioning have long been a part of SAB’s wellness programming. Students will be among the first to step foot in the School’s brand-new Artistic Health and Wellness Student Center for either a Pilates mat class with a certified instructor or an introductory strength and conditioning class taught by a trained wellness coach. Both of these classes will be geared specifically to the needs of dancers. Specific class offerings will rotate session to session.
Contemporary
Since 2023, Contemporary has been a vital component of the SAB curriculum, encouraging dancers to expand their physical range and artistic depth. The contemporary classes offered mirror the rigorous training provided in our year-round pre-professional division.
Faculty
Members of SAB’s faculty and guest teachers from New York City Ballet will comprise the faculty of the SAB One-Day and One-Week Experience. View our complete SAB faculty listing.
