Alumni Encore Virtual Open House

Join us for an alumni engagement opportunity on March 27 and 28: 2025 Alumni Encore Virtual Open House. We will host a series of virtual presentations that are designed to pull back the curtain on SAB today. No matter where you live, you will be able to tune in to hear from the School’s key leaders about artistic vision and programming, innovative student wellness initiatives and strategic alumni engagement around diversity and inclusion. You will even be able to get a sneak peek into this year’s Workshop program and rehearsal process.

Curtain Up: Welcome to the 2025 SAB Alumni Virtual Open House

11 AM – 12 PM, EDT

Join us as we kick off Alumni Encore with an exciting opportunity to reconnect with the community and hear from School leadership about SAB today. Meet the School’s Artistic leadership team, learn about key strategic goals, and get a sneak peek at the year’s artistic highlights, including the upcoming Workshop performances. Discover how you can contribute to SAB’s success and how you can join in on our celebration of this year’s 2nd Annual Alumni of Distinction Awards. If you are curious to get an overview of where we are, where we see ourselves going, and how you can join us along the journey, please register to join us!

Caring for the Artistic Athlete: Student Wellness at the School of American Ballet

2 PM – 3 PM, EDT

Join Aesha Ash (Head of Artistic Health and Wellness) and Katy Vedder (Director of Student Life for Children’s Division and Wellness Programming) for an exploration of SAB’s physical, mental, and developmental wellness resources, and the programs that are used at the School to promote holistic student wellbeing. Attendees will then be given an exciting sneak peek at the School’s brand new 5,000+ square foot Artistic Health and Wellness Student Center, scheduled to open this coming August. The presentation will close with an Interactive Conditioning Workshop hosted by Aesha Ash and Jason Harrison (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist). Participants will be exposed to some of the foundational principles our practitioners use with students to connect their physicality with their artistry. The workshop will invite you into light, passive participation, but movement will not be required.

Performance Opportunities at SAB: Dialogue and Demonstration

Join us for a special conversation between Jenifer Ringer (Director of the Intermediate and Advanced Divisions and Artistic Programming) and Katrina Killian (Director of Preparatory and Children’s Divisions). As they explore the importance and diversity of student performance opportunities at SAB, they will walk participants through some key opportunities that shape our students’ artistry on stages big and small. They will also discuss this year’s Workshop program, and Jenifer will conclude the presentation by bringing you into a short coaching session with a few of this year’s Workshop performers. If you are curious about the ways that performance opportunities have grown at the School, we hope you will join us for this special conversation.

Our Alumni Advocates: Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at SAB

SAB’s Alumni Advisory Committee on Diversity and Inclusion was formed in 2015 with the goal of providing essential support and guidance for the School’s Diversity Initiative. In the ten years since its inception, the Committee and its influence on the School’s culture have become cornerstone of SAB’s school-wide commitment to DEI. Join Elise Drew Leon (Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) as she leads a panel discussion with 4 Committee members (Margaret Severin-Hansen, Steven Melendez, Maurice Brandon Curry and Gabrielle Salvatto), exploring the Committee’s early work and challenges, reflecting on where they see the School today, and looking ahead to SAB’s future
