The School of American Ballet hosts or participates in a number of events each year. While some are open to the public, others are restricted to alumni or members of the School's Association and Donors Circle.
2008
Halloween Open House
Wednesday, October 31, 2008 from 10:30AM to 4:00PM
Association and Donors Circle members are invited to observe a full day of Intermediate and Advanced classes on the most lighthearted day of the year at SAB, when students pursue their classical ballet training dressed in a variety of fun, and always creative, costumes. Guests are treated to tasty refreshments to add to the fun.

Association Seminar

Association members in the Partner level and above have the opportunity to attend this educational seminar in an SAB studio, featuring students and teachers.

Student Choreography Workshop
In 1997, Peter Martins initiated the School's Student Choreography Project to provide students enrolled in the Intermediate and Advanced Divisions with the opportunity to explore the art of choreography by working with fellow students. There are two events held for patrons of SAB in conjunction with this project:
A Student Choreography Benefit Evening
Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 6:30PM
A performance of original ballets choreographed and performed by some of SAB’s advanced students followed by an intimate dinner. Tickets and table sponsorships are available for purchase.

This night is reserved for our Donors Circle members and includes a performance of the Student Choreography Workshop followed by a cocktail reception

Nutcracker Family Benefit
Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 2:00PM
SAB and NYCB join together for one of the highlights of the holiday season. Guests enjoy a matinee performance of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker™ at the New York State Theater, followed by a family-friendly party on the theater's promenade. Party-goers mingle with the stars of the ballet and get an exclusive backstage tour of the "Land of the Sweets." Tickets and tables are available for purchase.

Anniversary Kickoff: New York City Ballet’s Tribute to SAB’s 75th Anniversary
Wednesday, January 14 at 7:30 PM

New York State Theater
A one-time only performance featuring SAB alumni at New York City Ballet and other American and international companies, with intermission and dessert receptions for alumni and friends of SAB.
Alumni Open House
Thursday, January 15 from 10:30AM to 4:00PM
Alumni are welcome to visit the School, view advanced classes, mingle with faculty and staff, tour the facilities and reunite with one another.
Valentine's Day Open House
Friday, February 13 from 10:30AM to 4:00PM
Association and Donors Circle members are invited to observe a full day of Intermediate and Advanced classes infused with a Valentine's Day spirit.

Winter Ball

SAB’s glamorous dinner dance featuring advanced students performing a unique piece choreographed specifically for the Winter Ball. Another highlight of this event is the exciting after party, The Encore, hosted by SAB’s Young Patrons. This year's Winter Ball is sponsored by Van Cleef and Arpels. Family Day at SAB

Patron members and higher are invited to see the Workshop process in an early studio viewing hosted by SAB's Artistic Director and Executive Director. Directors and Chairmen Circle members are invited to an elegant dinner following the preview.

45th Annual Workshop Performances
Saturday, May 30 at 2:00PM and 8:00PM
Monday, June 1 at 7:00 PM (Benefit Performance)
The Workshop is a public demonstration of the continuing tradition of excellence fostered at the School. Dozens of advanced students participate each year performing classical works by Balanchine, Robbins, Bouronville and other masters, as well as new choreography made especially on SAB students. The performances take place at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at The Juilliard School and include full costumes, lighting and a live orchestra. The benefit evening includes a dinner dance following the performance at SAB's studios.
